It seems Newcastle United better hurry up with their chase for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo.
It’s no surprise that the young centre-forward draws big interest from Europe, and now there’s one more club getting linked to him.
Turkish outlet Fotomac writes that Galatasaray are keen on signing Marcos Leonardo and ‘took action’ to bring him to Istanbul.
It’s said that the club will ‘use all their resources’ to get the transfer done, while the player is valued at €17m.
That’s basically a big warning for Newcastle, who were said to be in initial talks to sign the 20-year-old.
Santos have just been relegated to the second division, and that only makes it more obvious that the club will end up selling Marcos Leonardo in the January transfer window.
In November, reports from Brazil claimed that Newcastle were the frontrunners for the signing, even though they were still to place an offer for him.
Playing for Santos this year, Marcos Leonardo had 21 goals and four assists in 49 appearances. He also had five goals in five games in the U-20 World Cup.
