West Ham United defender Thilo Kerer is one of several potential targets for German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the January transfer window, with initial talks already taking place.
That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the idea of a move is not 100% concrete as yet.
A report earlier this week in SportBILD indicated that Frankfurt were looking at the West Ham man as they look to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
That report indicated talks had already taken place between the relevant parties, with the belief that Kehrer could be available as he is barely featuring for West Ham this season.
It was because of that Eintracht were looking at a potential move, with it explained that sporting director Markus Krösche had even tried to sign him before he went to PSG in 2018.
Plettenberg now confirms that Frankfurt are keen and initial talks have taken place, but nothing further than that at this stage.
“Many players are always in conversation at Eintracht and Thilo Kehrer is one of them,” he said.
“They would like to strengthen the defence even further. There has been an initial exchange but that’s all. Kehrer has had an unfavourable season so far and is currently not playing a first-team role, but he remains ambitious.
“He’s certainly a player who can help Eintracht. It’s not 100% concrete yet but we definitely have to keep an eye on it. He’s one of the candidates for Eintracht’s defence.”
