Girona midfielder Yangel Herrera is ‘waiting for City’ as he hopes the Spanish side’s impressive performances this season can help him get back to the Etihad.
That’s according to Lider, who cover the player today and how he still dreams of making it at Manchester City.
They explain that Herrera remains determined to try and succeed at Manchester City, despite having been moved on from the club earlier in his career.
He joined the Cityzens in a €1m deal from Atlético Venezuela in 2017 but spent his time at the Etihad on various loans in America and Spain before being sold permanently to Girona this summer.
He’s ‘one of the best midfielders in the league’, according to coaches and journalists, and it seems he is hoping that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
According to Lider, Herrera ‘dreamed of’ wearing the Manchester City shirt and being cheered by the ‘demanding stands’ at the Etihad. That never happened when he had the chance, but his hope is that they ‘never stopped closely following’ him.
Thus, he is mastering his game in Spain and ‘while waiting for City’, perhaps dreaming that a surprise title success would see ideas change at the Etihad and ensure that ‘the wind will blow in his favour’ to convince them to bring him back.
It’s all hopes and dreams at this point but with things going well, and Kalvin Phillips potentially on his way out, perhaps the stars could align.
That’s Herrera’s hope either way.
