Bayer Leverkusen coach Xavi Alonso has insisted he is happy where he is for now, despite reports suggesting he would be allowed to join Liverpool, Real Madrid or Bayern in future.
Fussball Transfers cover comments from the Spanish boss today to Movistar regarding his contract situation and an apparent clause leaving him free to join one of his former clubs.
The former midfielder is currently one of the rising managerial stars of European football having transformed Leverkusen into Bundesliga title contenders since taking charge last year.
His side currently sit top of the Bundesliga with 35 points from 13 games so far, three points ahead of Bayern Munich, although Thomas Tuchel’s side do have a game in hand.
A report back in October indicated that should his stock continue to rise then a move could be on the cards, particularly if one of his former clubs, such as Liverpool, come calling.
That indicated that Alonso has an agreement with Leverkusen that if Liverpool, Bayern or Real Madrid were to make a move then he would be allowed to depart.
It seems, though, the Spaniard isn’t interested in any such talk, insisting he’s happy where he is for now.
“Get out clause? These are contractual questions,” he is quoted as saying.
“At the moment I am very strongly tied to Leverkusen. I feel very comfortable at the moment.”
