Tottenham Hotspur signed Bryan Gil from Sevilla in 2021 and he hasn’t had a prominent role at the club for the past two years.

He spent the second half of the last season on loan at his former La Liga side, who wanted to take the forward on another loan deal in the summer.

Gil picked up an injury in August and that partly played a role in him not getting a move away from the north London club. In addition to this, Ange Postecoglou was not in favour of his exit.

That’s according to Sport, who state the Tottenham coach stopped him from leaving again on loan because he had faith in the 22-year-old’s potential.

After recovering from injury, the Spain international made his first appearance against Crystal Palace in October. Since then, Gil has made three more appearances, including starts against Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Postecoglou would be key in the player’s resurgence at the Premier League side. Even though he has competition for a place in the starting lineup, the Spanish newspaper have backed him to get opportunities at Spurs.

Former Tottenham midfielder Nayim was full of praise for Gil when he signed for the club. After relaying his comments, Sport state the player can ‘finally shine’ at Spurs and showcase his qualities.

Back in September, claims from Spain talked about Real Sociedad and Valencia looking at Gil. With Postecoglou’s summer transfer decision paying off, a move away from Tottenham seems unlikely at this stage.
