Earlier today, we covered Sevilla vice-president José Maria del Nido Carrasco insisting that Monchi tried to leave them and join Aston Villa for free.
The club chief insinuated that the official tried to leave without his release clause being paid, attempted to mislead Sevilla over his intentions, and was caught out when Marca reported Aston Villa interest.
Well, those quotes certainly got to Monchi, and as now reported by Estadio Deportivo, the Aston Villa director came up with a ‘forceful response’ to that.
“Motivation comes from working on what we like, but also from meeting people who like us and who let us work,” said Monchi’s post on Instagram.
Estadio Deportivo claims this is a ‘dagger’ in the crossed messages between Monchi and Sevilla that have been taking place for a while now.
The Spanish media don’t turn their back on the director, though, as Estadio highlights the good work he’s been doing at Aston Villa since his arrival, both proven by his signings and by the results at Unai Emery’s side.
