As if it wasn’t bad enough, Antonio Rüdiger’s knee injury hasn’t only ruined his chances of playing the Euros in France. The Roma defender is now unlikely to join Chelsea, according to reports.
In Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, there’s an article saying how Roma will deal with all the sales that are planned for this summer, since the Italian side need money to fit in the financial fair play standards.
The newspaper says that one of the plans was to sell Rudiger to Chelsea, in a deal which could be worth €25m for the Italian side. However, after the injury which will leave the 23-year-old out for up to six months, the deal is very unlikely to go through.
Rudiger’s links with Chelsea have been reported for a while, as the defender had a very solid season for Roma, and at times the deal was stated as almost done.
But now it looks like the player will have to prove himself for one more year before the London interest shows up again, and all at a club he knows were more than happy to cash in.
