On November 29th, Corinthians technical coordinator Chicão hinted he could sell Gabriel Moscardo to Chelsea for a fee of around €25m.
Recent claims have stated Paris Saint-Germain advisor Luis Campos made a trip to Brazil to try to conclude the deal for the midfielder.
On Monday, journalist Jorge Nicola published a report which suggested Chelsea still have a chance to sign the player despite PSG pushing ahead with a €22m bid.
Gazeta Esportiva state the Blues, the Ligue 1 side and Barcelona are all in the picture to sign the 18-year-old, as these clubs are carefully monitoring his ‘situation with care’.
Augusto Melo, the South American club’s new president, has insisted he has no plans to sanction Moscardo’s sale for €20m or a fee around that region in January.
“He’s an 18-year-old boy, he’s in a transition. He will still mature, so that we can sell him for three, four times what he is worth. We need to get back to selling well in the market,” he told Rádio Bandeirantes.
Gazeta Esportiva have relayed Melo’s quotes and point out the two offers Chelsea made in the last window. The president has made it clear the fee Mauricio Pochettino’s side, PSG or another club should pay, if they wish to secure the player’s services.
“I made it clear, I joked with him, I told him I’m not going to sell. With what they are offering, I would never sell. He’s worth more than €40m, at least,” he said.
Chelsea’s last proposal in the summer was reportedly around €21m plus bonuses, and if they were to return with a €40m bid, they may beat PSG to secure Moscardo’s services in the winter market.
