Over the past week in Scotland, there has been word of an interest from Celtic in Tiago Araújo, a left-back currently playing for Estoril Praia in Portugal.
It was even stated that Brendan Rodgers’ side could offer as much as €4.6m for the defender, who has quickly become one of the best in his country.
A Bola have an article on the player and Celtic’s interest, where they point out that half the money made by Estoril would go to Benfica.
Either way, should the Scottish Premiership side decide to put an offer of close to €5m for Araújo, that money ‘would be welcomed’ by the Liga Portugal club.
To date, their biggest transfers have been those of Chiquinho to Wolves for a potential €5m, while Tiago Santos was sold to Lille for €6m.
Therefore, a €4.6m move to Celtic for the 22-year-old would put him close to a record transfer fee for Estoril, but it’s all hypothetical for now.
That’s because A Bola have learned that ‘no formal proposal has arrived yet’ for the player, who has two goals and three assists in 16 games in all competitions.
