As Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli held a press conference at Brazil’s training camp, he answered to a few questions about Arsenal.
One of them was about the Gunners’ teammate he also has at the national team, which is Gabriel Jesus.
Quoted by Globo Esporte, Martinelli talked about the great friendship they have, hoping that they can be soon on the pitch together again.
“He’s a guy I rate a lot, he’s a brother to me, we’ve formed a great friendship,” said Gabriel Martinelli.
“He’s one of the best centre-forwards in the world. I hope he does as well here in the national team as he is doing at Arsenal, so that we can bring joy to the Brazilian fans.”
Martinelli claimed that in case he and Jesus are lined up to play against Argentina, they’ll bring their chemistry from Arsenal to the national team.
The striker was also asked if there are any similarities between Mikel Arteta and Brazil manager Fernando Diniz, and he tried to find some characteristics they share.
“They’re different working methods, different coaches, each one has their own tactics. Mikel has his way at Arsenal, and Diniz has his way here. They’re two different ways of playing, but two ways of teams that like to have the ball. It was a good thing last game, I’d never played as much creative football as I did last game. I felt good, Diniz has been talking to me, giving me confidence. I’m confident of playing in that role.”
Gabriel Martinelli was a starter in Brazil’s match against Colombia last week, and even scored the opener in the 2-1 loss.
Now he should start again versus Argentina and Tuesday night, and there’s big expectation whether Gabriel Jesus will be fit for that match.
Fernando Diniz is under big pressure and will certainly use the Arsenal duo if he can.
