West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek has admitted he is looking to get one over teammate Lukasz Fabianski in this international break, by helping Czech Republic to beat Poland.
The midfielder has been speaking to the press ahead of his country’s clash with Poland in Euro qualifying later today.
The two sides are currently separated by just a single point in Group E, with Albania leading the way on 13 and Czech Republic in second on 11 behind them.
Then comes Poland on 10 in third place, with them currently set to miss out on the tournament if the table remains how it is.
Souček will again be a key part of his country’s hopes, having established himself as one of their star men in recent years as he’s shined for West Ham.
And he’s clear he wants all three points and to return to the London Stadium with a smile, even if that does mean upsetting close friend and West Ham teammate Lukasz Fabianski, who will be watching on after not making the Poland squad this time around.
“Lukasz is not in the nomination, and he told me that he will definitely watch the match,” he said.
“We are great friends; our families are friends. Lukasz has done a lot of work for the national team; he is a Polish hero. Now I just hope I come back to London in a better mood than him.”
