Towards the end of the 2021 summer transfer window, Crystal Palace were in search of a new striker, and decided to spend just over €16m on Odsonne Edouard.
The Frenchman, who was so lethal in Scotland, has taken his time to adapt to Premier League football, but it appears that after two seasons with six and five league goals to his name, he is finally finding his feet.
The Crystal Palace forward spoke to Paris Saint-Germain’s website over the weekend to discuss his early career with the Ligue 1 side, as well as what followed his 2017 exit, with the current season also a topic of discussion.
With five goals in 11 Premier League games to date, Edouard has already equalled last season’s tally (in 35 appearances), showing that he can be a key player for Roy Hodgson’s side, and can be counted on to find the back of the net.
He said: “I try to give the best version of myself every time I step onto a pitch. Making the supporters at Selhurst Park proud is my goal. It is by achieving successful performances that I could aspire to join one of the biggest European clubs.
“I strive to become a striker that matters on the European scene. It is therefore important to have a great season with the Eagles.”
With a contract at Crystal Palace coming to an end in 2025, next summer could be key for both the club and the player, as he would only have one year left on his deal.
This would mean either putting pen to paper on a new contract at Selhurst Park or a transfer away, all depending on who becomes interested in the 25-year-old.
