Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci will complete a permanent move to Empoli in the next transfer window, according to claims in the Italian media.
Bellusci desire to return to Italy was never a hidden secret, and after his troubles with Leeds United last season he got his move to Empoli. The initial agreement was the defender would go on loan, with the Tuscan club having a right of redemption on the player.
Pianeta Empoli have reported the Italian club will activate this clause in the summer, and sign Bellusci on a permanent deal for €2m. The Leeds United loanee has been one of the standout players for Empoli this season, and now it’s probable they will remain in the top flight they can plan for the next campaign. Staying in Serie A is crucial to the club’s summer business, including signing Bellusci.
The defender joined Leeds United from Catania in 2014, and was a regular in his two seasons at the club. However, Bellusci came in for flak at the backend of last season for his performances, which led to speculation he would return to his home country.
