AC Milan will ‘take on’ Tottenham Hotspur in the chase for AFC Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who point out Spurs tried to sign the defender in the last window. Tottenham made a move for the Bournemouth player after receiving a ‘precise indication’ from Ange Postecoglou.
The 25-year-old still seems to be on the north London club’s radar, and would have to be ready to face a battle with the Serie A side to secure his services.
It’s claimed Milan technical director Geoffrey Moncada made a trip to England to watch the player in action during Bournemouth’s 2-1 win over Burnley.
Tuttosport state Moncada’s ‘blitz’ to England was justified as Kelly ‘passed the exam with flying colours’. Stefano Pioli’s side intend to start talks with his agent but the operation won’t be simple because of Tottenham.
The outlet says it has become a need for the San Siro club to strengthen the centre-back position in January. Therefore, Milan are seriously considering making an offer to the Cherries in January, considering that Kelly’s deal will expire in 2024.
Montpellier’s Maxime Estève is plan B for Milan, if they cannot take Postecoglou’s target away from Bournemouth.
