Borussia Dortmund are expecting an atmosphere like no other when they travel to face Newcastle United in the Champions League this week, thanks to a lowdown from Brighton and Hove Albion’s Pascal Groß.
That’s according to Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt, who insists he and his teammates need to head to St James Park “with a broad chest”.
The German side take on Newcastle in matchday three of Group F this week looking to secure their first win after draws with Paris Saint Germain and AC Milan.
They sit bottom of the group as a result but are far from out of the race for now, with a win against the Magpies potentially taking them top of the group.
It means the home crowd will be raucous for Dortmund’s visit tomorrow, with a win potentially taking them clear at the top of the group and towards the knockout stages.
It’s an atmosphere that Dortmund will be more than prepared for, though, with Brandt having used his Premier League connections to get the lowdown.
“We can expect a very good atmosphere there. That’s different than at City or Chelsea,” he said when asked what Groß had told him.
“Even though they played a very good game against PSG, we have to go there with a broad chest. The group is so wild that anything can happen.”
