Aston Villa striker Jhon Durán is ‘in a dispute’ with the club after being left out of the 4-1 win over West Ham United on Sunday.
That’s according to Noticias RCN, who cover the striker today and take a different stance to what has been reported elsewhere in Colombia.
Durán has been playing a bit part role for Aston Villa so far this season, with Ollie Watkins continued impressive form limiting him to substitute appearances in the Premier League and a starting role in the cup competitions.
He’s rewarded the faith shown in him when given the chance but is yet to be handed a major role as yet, something which appears to have now annoyed him.
He was left out of the squad for the clash with West Ham yesterday and took to social media to make it clear that was not because of injury or anything of that nature.
The player then proceeded to delete all pictures on his account relating to Aston Villa, before then posting pictures of former basketball player Dennis Rodman, was known for being somewhat rebellious during his career.
That’s been seen as a hint that Durán could now rebel against Aston Villa over his lack of playing time this season, something which has been covered extensively in his native Colombia, where they have complained about his situation.
Noticias RCN continue that today and say the striker is ‘in a dispute’ with those in charge at Villa Park, with Unai Emery presumably at the top of that list.
They say that the start of the season ‘seemed to be promising’ but that appears to have dwindled to nothing despite his records having appeared to ‘give him credits to earn more opportunities’.
The situation was going unnoticed but his actions on social media now might have put it to the forefront and could force Aston Villa into a decision.
The outlet state ‘something must have happened’ for the striker to take this stance and now it remains to be seen what happens next, with the drama building behind the scenes.
