Manchester United, Newcastle United and Manchester City are all in the mix to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
That’s according to Sport, who mention the Premier League trio when discussing Barcelona interest in the 20-year-old. The La Liga side have collected positive reports about the player after following him for two years.
Sport say the attacking midfielder is a ‘differential’ player, destined to win titles in the future and Barca are well aware of this. However, they aren’t willing to pay a hefty fee and join other clubs in the bidding war.
Claims in Germany have stated the Bundesliga side are planning to cash in from Wirtz’s sale next summer and a fee of around €85m is mentioned.
The Catalan outlet states Xavi Hernández’s side have to give up on the German due to their economic conditions. Sport add both the player and his entourage will not wait if the ‘right offer’ were to arrive from elsewhere.
Bild mentioned Bayern Munich as an option for the Leverkusen star. Sport relay this and then add that he’s going to receive ‘very high proposals’ from England, where Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City are in the picture.
It’s claimed these three sides are ‘very attentive’ to the situation around Wirtz’s future and that’s all the newspaper has to say about Manchester United, Newcastle and Manchester City.
Wirtz has three goals and four assists from 10 games this season.
