Victor Lindelöf’s contract at Manchester United lasts until June 2024 and the Red Devils have an option to extend it for another year. Recent claims in the English media have stated that the Premier League side plan to activate this option.
Fotbollskanalen interviewed the 29-year-old and he said he accepts Manchester United to extend the deal until 2025.
“That’s more than I heard. But I have an option [for another] year and there is a deadline for it. When exactly I don’t know. But it feels quite likely that it will be activated,” he said.
Last week, we relayed news from Italy that AC Milan are monitoring Lindelöf’s situation at Old Trafford as they have identified him as a target to replace Simon Kjaer.
Fotbollskanalen asked the Sweden international if he wants to ‘extend and stay’ at the English club.
“Absolutely. I enjoy myself very much. I am entering my seventh year at the club. I feel good and the family feels good. It’s a club that I really like, and that I love to represent,” Lindelöf explained.
This season, the centre-back has made 10 appearances and that includes five league starts. Ten Hag’s side have lost both their Champions League games and are 10th in the league table, trailing fourth placed Liverpool by five points.
On Manchester United’s start this season, the Swede said: “It hasn’t been a perfect start to the season, if you say so. But it was very nice that we got a win [against Brentford] in the end and it gave us some breathing room. We are not too far behind but it’s absolutely not an optimal start to the season.”
