Agent talks about ‘flattery from Premier League’ months after Nottingham Forest offer

Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio was flattered by the interest from Nottingham Forest this summer but won’t be leaving Italy.

That’s according to his agent, who has commented on the ‘flattery’ from the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

Nottingham Forest were linked with a move for the 26-year-old across the summer as they looked for a new number one.

They had lost Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson after his loan deal came to an end, while a short loan spell for Keylor Navas was not made permanent.

They eventually signed Matt Turner from Arsenal and Odysseus Vlachodimos from Benfica, but not before they were linked with a list of names to fill the role.

A report in June stated that they had set their sights on the Italian, before it was then claimed that Monza had received an offer from Nottingham Forest for him.

That move never happened, though, and now his agent has commented on the matter, admitting it was a ‘flattery’ to be linked to the Premier League.

“The flattery from the Premier League is nice but we have decided to renew with #Monza, which is the right environment for him,” he said.

“Inter Milan? In the last transfer market, they never called us back.”
