Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is ‘practically assured’ of his place in Belgium’s starting 11 moving forwards, having established himself as a key player for Domenico Tedesco.
That’s according to Sud Info and journalist Guillaume Raedts, who heaps praise on the Everton star today in an article on who should partner him in Belgium’s midfield.
He writes that Onana has ‘already established himself’ as a key player in Tedesco’s squad, with his ‘physique, impact in duels and self-confidence’ all things the Belgium manager rates very highly.
One potential issue is that this ‘enthusiasm’ can pose a problem for him, demonstrated when he received two yellow cards against Canada and Morocco in the World Cup, which saw him miss the third match against Croatia as a result.
That’s not enough to deter Tedesco, though, who will undoubtedly pick him for the clash against Austria despite them promising a ‘hellish pace’ and ‘immense pressure’ from the get-go.
The bigger question for him is who partners the Everton man in the middle of the park, with his place assured and his reputation in his homeland seemingly continuing to rise.
