Surprising claims from South America say Manchester United agreed a deal to sign Gabriel Menino from Palmeiras in the summer window.

Premier League Brasil features an exclusive story claiming that at the end of the summer market, the Red Devils placed an £8m official bid for the signing, and saw that being accepted by club president Leila Pereira.

Since Gabriel Menino is far from his peak, Palmeiras were happy to negotiate his exit. However, according to the report, Manchester United ended up giving up on the deal due to many factors.

According to Premier League Brasil, all the problems at Old Trafford affected the talks. The Red Devils reportedly switched their focus to all their other problem areas and left Menino’s signing aside.

The report claims that the midfielder was recommended by Manchester United’s analysis department and was seen as a ‘perfect element’ for Erik ten Hag’s side.

That’s a quite interesting story, even though we must say that the Red Devils are not used to making that type of signing from South America, and with Menino having ups and downs at 23, it’s quite strange that the club came for his signing at this stage.
