When Chelsea decided to buy Angelô from Santos, the transfer was always going to be one for the future, which is why he was immediately sent on loan to Strasbourg.

The forward hasn’t wasted time having an impact in Ligue 1, where he is currently managed by Patrick Vieira, who gave him his first start at the weekend against Montpellier.

In fact, L’Equipe on Monday, covering the game, explain the Chelsea loanee was the ‘top’ player on the pitch in that fixture, which is effectively handing him the man of the match award.

It wasn’t perfect, by any means, seeing as they give him a 6/10 for his efforts, but he was one of the most dangerous players on the pitch.

Describing his performance as ‘promising’, they elaborate by telling their readers the Brazilian from Chelsea was ‘very interesting’ with the ball in his feet, and ‘caused difficulties’ with his speed for defender Issiaga Sylla.

He even came very close to getting an assist when Emanuel Emegha’s header hit the crossbar from his pass in the final minutes of the game.

This is all a very promising start for the Chelsea player, who will be looking to make the most out of this season to come back to Stamford Bridge with more experience and ready to try and fight his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s already very big squad.
