Newcastle United youngster Yakuba Minteh is earning praise early on at Feyenoord after joining the Dutch club on loan in the summer transfer window.
Algemeen Dagblad cover the player today and comments from journalist Willem van Hanegem, who is full of praise for winger.
Minteh joined Newcastle in an €8m deal from Odense BK in July this year, with the Magpies moving quickly to sign the youngster ahead of potential competition.
He is very much seen as one for the future, with the hope he can be developed into a star for Eddie Howe’s team down the line.
With that in mind they’ve decided to send him out on loan to Feyenoord this season, with that deal agreed the day after he officially signed for Newcastle.
The hope is that Minteh can take advantage of a year with the Dutch champions and the chance to play in the Eredivisie, a league which has often developed young players into stars.
Whether Minteh can do so remains to be seen but the early reports are positive, and Van Hanegem is one of those who has been impressed by what he has seen, as AD say he has been ‘one of the standouts’.
“He will be a nice player,” he said.
“What I like most about him is that he is not lazy. He’s doing his best. I wouldn’t mind him as the main striker. He is strong and fast. Then I would just put Paixão on the right.”
