Thiago ‘wants to leave’ Liverpool and take the chance to move to Turkey but the Reds are resisting a sale and would prefer to keep him.
That’s according to AS, who say Thiago is keen on the switch to the Super Lig as Trabzonspor to sign him before the Turkish deadline tomorrow.
A report earlier today indicated that Trabzonspor were doing everything in their power to sign Thiago from Liverpool and make him a late, high-profile capture before the transfer deadline.
That was followed by claims Fenerbahce had also entered the mix, making a €5m offer to Liverpool and offering Thiago a €7.5m per year for three years.
AS now follow that up and confirm that Trabzonspor are trying to secure the signing of the Spanish international, albeit on the condition that they can free up a non-EU space in their squad.
They have learned that ‘Thiago is convinced’ about the move and ‘wants to leave’ Liverpool if the opportunity is there to do so. The problem is that the Reds coaching staff would prefer him to stay.
The race is now on for Trabzonspor to convince them to sanction the deal, particularly with less than 48 hours left of the window. They are, though, ‘determined to do so’.
The operation is seen as very difficult because there is ‘not much time’ left to get things done and Liverpool are yet to open up to any negotiation.
That means a bid has not been lodged with the Reds for the time being, although they have offered Thiago a two-year contract with a one-year option.
That’s been enough to seemingly convince him, it’s now a case of working on Liverpool and changing their thoughts on the matter.
