Christopher Vivell could be set for a quick return to work with Bayern Munich following his departure from Chelsea this summer.

That’s according to Kicker, who say new Bayern Munich director of football Christoph Freund could be eyeing up a reunion with his former colleague after taking charge at the German giants.

Freund has been in charge at Bayern for 11 days and has already set about restructuring the club, particularly in terms of transfers, with a transfer committee put together this summer formally disbanded.

He’s made a ‘good first impression’ at Säbener Strasse and on Munich’s football campus. The plan, it seems, is to clear house and create a new football structure moving forwards.

He wants to work with his own team and Kicker have now learned that could see him look to reunite with Vivell.

Vivell left Chelsea last month after being put on gardening leave but has a ‘good reputation’ in the game after spells with Hoffenheim, Salzburg and RB Leipzig and his name is now being mentioned ‘more and more frequently’ at Bayern as a result.

Nothing is concrete yet and Vivell is yet to reappear after his short stint as technical director at Chelsea, where he arrived in December last year but left in July.

What role he would play at Bayern isn’t made clear given he’s performed various ones in his career so far, acting as a scout at Hoffenheim, head of scouting and sports coordinator at Salzburg, technical director at Leipzig and then the same at Stamford Bridge.

With Freund the sporting director at Bayern it would presumably be a role underneath his, should anything come of the interest in the coming days and weeks as the build up to the January transfer window begins.
