With Denmark facing San Marino on Thursday night, everyone expected the former to win, and Christian Eriksen, contracted to Manchester United, helped them achieve that goal.
The midfielder helped his teammates out with three assists, according to some stat lines, but the player believes it should be two assists and a goal, as he told Tipsbladet.
The debate has emerged because the fourth goal came from a deep cross from the Manchester United star, with Yussuf Poulsen swinging his head at it and potentially brushing his hair along the way.
The striker believes it should be his, while Eriksen disagrees, and the two had a bit of an argument, if you want to call it that, after the game over who should claim it.
The Manchester United man, in true competitive fashion, is adamant it should be his.
He said: “Yussuf started by saying that he touched it with his hair, but I don’t believe that. I’ll probably take it, because it was also time.”
Poulsen strongly disagrees with that, but also seemed very uninterested in having a battle with the 121 times capped Denmark star.
He said: “Of course Christian takes the credit, he always does. He wants as many goals as possible. As far as I’m concerned, he’s welcome to take it. It’s not that important to me. It was a good cross, because it was difficult for both me, the defender and the goalkeeper to get on the ball properly.”
UEFA’s official website has given the goal to Eriksen since, meaning the Manchester United star will be happy, at least.
