Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap will be joining PSV Eindhoven after the paperwork was submitted in time on deadline day.
That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink, who says the deal for the defender has ‘simply been completed’ and he will be presented sooner rather than later.
Bella-Kotchap was linked with a move away from Southampton throughout the summer transfer window following their relegation to the Championship last season.
He had appeared likely to move to Germany, where both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were keen on him, the latter pushing right up until their deadline at 4pm yesterday but failing to get it done in time.
That saw the player scrambling to find an other option and that appeared late in the window in the form of PSV, who had been keen to add a central defender to their squad all summer.
Elfrink reports, presumably via his sources at PSV, that the deal to bring the Southampton defender in has ‘simply been completed’ and he will be joining the Dutch side on loan.
According to him, Bella-Kotchap will be presented with a PSV shirt sooner rather than later but when that is remains to be seen as the transfer was a ‘real last-minute job’.
It has been done regardless, though, and we’ll await the finer details of that loan move to come out in the Netherlands, presumably when everyone has caught their breath following a last-minute dash to Southampton.
De komst van Armel Bella-Kotchap naar PSV is gewoon rond. Presentatie in het shirt van PSV volgt nog, omdat deze huurtransfer een echte last minute-klus was. https://t.co/CR8rm40MPL
