Aston Villa director of football Monchi is trying to find a ‘way out’ for Philippe Coutinho before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, with Real Betis keen on a deal.
That’s according to AS, who say Betis have entered the fight for Coutinho’s signature, but his high salary could be a major obstacle for their hopes.
The newspaper explains that Coutinho’s name has been places on Betis’ radar in the last few hours of the market and there is ‘growing hope’ in Heliópolis that they can get him from Aston Villa.
Indeed, he believes he can get the player back to the level he enjoyed at Liverpool and could fit into his system in a ‘remarkable way’.
Talks are now underway with Aston Villa, who are more than happy to help the player find a way out as he doesn’t count for Unai Emery.
The major stumbling block is the Brazilian’s wages, with Betis unable to cover a large part of them in the loan that they are seeking.
They have a ‘minimised salary capacity’ and so there are ‘distances’ between them and Aston Villa at this moment in time, but talks are underway, nonetheless.
Monchi is determined to find a location for the midfielder and the idea is to loan him somewhere so he can revalue himself, something Pellegrini believes he can help him to do.
