If there’s one thing Everton could do with late in the transfer window, it’s a nice little boost of income and they might just get it courtesy of Niels Nkounkou.

The defender was sold to Saint-Etienne after a successful second half of season loan as an option to buy for €2.5m was triggered against his will, which also included a 30% of a future profit made by the Ligue 2 side.

You might recall that Eintracht Frankfurt were trying to sign the defender, but the French club kept turning down their bids knowing they would owe money to Everton, but L’Equipe are reporting the latest offer from Germany is likely to be accepted.

They recall that the Bundesliga side first offered €4m + €4m in bonuses, with half of those easily attainable, but that was turned down.

The Germans then returned with €6m + €3m in bonuses based on the player’s performances, but that was also sent back to sender.

The third, however, ‘could be the right one’, as L’Equipe state the bid has been made and the Ligue 2 side ‘should accept it’.

Over on the player’s side, it’s explained he’s only waiting for the ‘green light’ to head to Germany to undergo his medical and then complete a move he has been actively seeking all summer.

As for Everton, they will be first waiting to hear what the bid is and then, once accepted, watch their bank account in hope the money turns up quickly.
