Back in early June, reports from the Brazilian media claimed West Ham United were interested in Corinthians striker Yuri Alberto.
It had been said the Hammers made the first contacts for the signing, and a potential Conference League Final title would make that investment more likely.
Well, West Ham did win that trophy, but the rumour went quiet, and now we see journalist Santi Aouna bringing a very interesting update on that pursuit.
The reporter claims that Hammers director Tim Steidten will fly to Brazil in the ‘next hours’ to try and sign Yuri Alberto.
What is interesting about the story is that even though the Brazilian media is usually on the money regarding transfer business of local clubs, all they’re doing with Yuri Alberto is to cover what is coming from Europe in the past few hours.
We only get to see journalists pointing out that the player’s recent Instagram post showing a religious message could be a sign that he’ll be leaving the country soon.
According to Aouna, the Brazilian isn’t the only striker West Ham are watching as they continue to be interested in Hugo Ekitike and Youssef En-Neysri, and more than one centre-forward could be signed in the final days of the window.
