Club have made ‘another attempt’ to sign Everton player – Want to reunite with ‘old acquaintance’

PSV Eindhoven have made ‘another attempt’ to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, refusing to give up on him entirely just yet.

That’s according to journalist Rik Elfrink and Voetbal International, who say the Dutch club still want to try and sign the Everton man on a permanent basis.

Branthwaite spent last season on loan at PSV, establishing himself as a key player under Ruud van Nistelrooy and becoming a regular throughout the campaign.

He earned plenty of admirers at the club and they made it clear they were determined to sign him on a permanent basis, but Everton have so far resisted all efforts on that front.

It appeared the club had given up on the idea and turned their attention elsewhere because of Everton’s demands being considered too high but that may not be the case.

Elfrink reports that PSV have ‘not yet forgotten’ about a reunion with Branthwaite and have now made ‘another attempt’ to sign their ‘old acquaintance’.

VI back that up, stating Branthwaite remains an ‘important candidate’ to strengthen PSV’s defence and they’re working on a potential deal.

Branthwaite was actually in attendance to watch PSV take on Rangers in Glasgow on Tuesday evening and after that match, PSV boss Peter Bosz admitted the search for a new defender was underway.

The Dutch club want to sign Branthwaite permanently but don’t have the finances available to match Everton’s demands. That could change once PSV sell Ibrahim Sangaré, a deal which would give them the finances to ‘immediately take action’ and try to change Everton’s resolve.
