Claimed to be rather close to being completed, the loan deal taking Lucas Digne from Aston Villa to OGC Nice is being delayed.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who feature an update on the left-back’s situation, and explain that while he was originally expected in the south of France early this week, that won’t be the case.
It’s pointed out that negotiations between Aston Villa and the Ligue 1 side ‘continue’, and there is still a lot of ‘optimism’ surrounding the deal, which would be a loan with an option to buy.
The problem, however, is the Villans are struggling to find him an adequate replacement, as talks between the Premier League side and Sevilla for Marcos Acuña have stalled.
While Nuno Tavares is also being considered by Unai Emery, there is nothing concrete there just yet, meaning that in order to ensure they aren’t left without a left-back as Alex Moreno returns from injury, they are keeping Digne in their ranks for now.
In short, until Aston Villa have the replacement lined up, the Frenchman won’t be going anywhere and his move is ‘delayed’.
