The German media today features a brief update on Bayer Leverkusen’s chase for Southampton winger Nathan Tella.

Outlet Bild writes that the Bundesliga want this ‘mega transfer’, as the signing would break their summer record.

Bayer already spent a fair amount of money on signings this window, and ti’s claimed that Tella would be the successor to Moussa Diaby, who left for Aston Villa.

The Southampton player would be the ‘last missing piece of the puzzle,’ and that’s why the German side want him so badly.

According to Bild, Bayer placed a €18m offer, and Southampton’s request is of over €20m. ‘The poker is on’, the outlet says.

Previous reports from the German media had said that the Saints’ demand was of €25-30m, so this new report may bring a little more confidence to the German club.

Bayer made €55m from the sale of Diaby to Villa, so it’s no secret they have enough money to replace him now.

Even though they’re expected to raise their bid for Tella, it still isn’t said how much they’ll offer Southampton this time.
