Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto has emerged as a new target for Europa League finalists AS Roma, with his entourage already in talks over a possible move.
That’s according to La Roma 24, who say ‘there have been some contacts’ between the player’s representatives and Roma director of football Tiago Pinto in the last few hours.
Gnonto wants to leave Leeds this summer and has made that clear to those in charge at Elland Road, where he has been told to train alone away from Daniel Farke’s squad for now.
Those in charge at Leeds have made it clear they have no intention of letting the player leave despite his efforts to make a move happen.
The interest in him has not stopped either and Roma can now be added to the list of interested parties according to this report.
La Roma 24 report that Pinto has been in contact with Gnonto’s representatives in the last few hours to understand the feasibility of the operation, which at the moment does not seem very simple.
Pinto would target a loan with a right to buy included but it seems unlikely Leeds would sanction such a deal given their reluctance to sell at all.
Gnonto also doesn’t represent the type of striker that they’ve been looking for, something which could, presumably cause issues with José Mourinho.
Talks are taking place with the player either way, though, so it’s a situation to keep an eye on in the ever-changing Gnonto saga.
