Las Palmas are hoping to use their connections with Manchester City to secure a deal for midfielder Máximo Perrone to join them this summer.
That’s according to La Provincia, who say the Manchester City youngster is ‘the wish’ of manager García Pimienta to bolster his midfield.
The newspaper explains that Pimienta, who has a relationship with those in charge at the Etihad thanks to their shared pasts at Barcelona, is holding ‘open’ dialogue about a move.
He has already ‘transferred to Txiki Begiristain’ his interest in signing Perrone, offering the youngster the necessary game time to continue his development after he managed just 18 minutes in the Premier League last season.
Manchester City’s hierarchy ‘would not look badly’ on the idea of sending Perrone to Las Palmas since their style and system ‘agrees with the creed’ that Pep Guardiola has instilled at the Etihad.
However, there is a problem and that is Girona. They are also owned by the City Football Group, who are always open to strengthening and aiding their cause if possible.
Indeed, they would make giving players to them over others a priority and this could be the case with Perrone.
The Spanish club are seeking a replacement for Oriol Romeu after he returned to Barcelona and Perrone could be that man. For now, though, manager Míchel is looking at other options and more experience.
That could present Las Palmas with their chance to get a deal over the line and their interest has already been registered with Manchester City.
They’re now waiting for those in charge at the Etihad to ‘decide what to do’ with the Argentine, which will hopefully rule out the possibility of sending him to Girona.
