Earlier today, it was made clear by José Castro, Sevilla’s president, that Aston Villa had a chance of signing Marcos Acuña as long as they paid the right amount of money.
The club leader explained that the Argentine had a price, and if it were met, then a transfer would be facilitated.
The problem for Aston Villa and Monchi, however, according to Diario de Sevilla, is that their first offer appears to be far from said demands.
They add a few more details, stating that Monchi put forward €5m up front plus another €2m in bonuses for the left-back.
Even Transfermarkt, which Diario de Sevilla refer to, have the defender at €10m in terms of value, meaning there would be no reason for the La Liga side to accept anything lower than that.
They then take into account that Aston Villa paid €13.5m with bonuses taking it to €15m for Alex Moreno, who was 29 at the time, while Acuña is just two years older at 31.
Add on top of that the fact the Argentine recently lifted the World Cup with his country in Qatar, and you can argue he’s worth a bit more than €7m overall.
In short, Sevilla will not be accepting Aston Villa’s first offer for Acuña.
