On Monday, we relayed news from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Romelu Lukaku and are awaiting talks to sign the Chelsea player.
Calciomercato state Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s idea is to rely upon the 30-year-old to replace Harry Kane.
Spurs have started contacts with their London rivals for Lukaku who’s no longer part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans. Therefore, a ‘solution is urgently needed’ for him in the next few weeks.
Spurs have looked at a few strikers and Calciomercato say ‘no one responds to all [of] Ange Postecoglou’s needs’ like the Belgium international.
The report adds he ‘costs relatively little’, at around €45m.
Taking the current options in the attack at Tottenham, the outlet suggests Lukaku could be a ‘perfect option’ for them.
The Belgian has no desire to continue in England but could be forced to change his stance due to a lack of alternatives. He earns €10.8m per year and this is a ‘big obstacle’ for Levy and Tottenham.
With the two clubs keen to find a solution to their own problems, there’s a deal to be done involving Lukaku, as long as the parties can find a favourable agreement.
Despite all of that, it has to be questionable whether Spurs really want to sign a player who will likely be pining for Italy again within months.
