Didi Hamann has warned Jurgen Klopp that things ‘quickly become uncomfortable’ at Liverpool next season if they don’t improve further in the remainder of the transfer window.

The German has been speaking to Sky Sports, relayed by Berchtesgadener-Anzeiger, regarding the situation at Anfield at present.

It’s been a summer of major overhaul for the Reds so far, with a long list of departures and only Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister arriving.

It means there is a major hole to be filled in their midfield at present, with all of Klopp’s defensive midfield options, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and even James Milner, having departed this summer.

The club are working to rectify that and are currently locked in negotiations with Southampton over a deal for Romeo Lavia, while an initial enquiry is believed to have been lodged with Brighton for Moises Caicedo today.

They would both be big, expensive additions but Hamann believes they and other signings are necessary or things could become difficult quickly at Liverpool next season.

“If the squad stays like this until the end of the transfer window, it would be a great success for Liverpool to finish in the top four,” he said.

“If the Reds don’t get off to a good start this season, it could quickly become uncomfortable.”
