Celta Vigo have found a deal to sign Cletic defender Carl Starfelt, according to reports from Spain.

Cadena Ser today report that the La Liga side are paying around €5m to take him from Glasgow.

The story says that even though the transfer hasn’t been confirmed yet, Celta has it as ‘done’.

It’s highlighted that Starfelt decided to ‘abandon his well-established stay in Scotland’ to stay close to his partner, who’s just joined Sporting’s squad.

The 28-year-old’s arrival in Spain is also reported by newspaper Faro de Vigo today.

The outlet writes that the player has ‘already said goodbye’ to people at Celtic, and Celta expect him in the coming days.

Starfelt joined Celtic in a €5m deal from Russian side Rubin Kazan back in 2021. In two years at the club, he made 87 appearances, and was even used in the  match against Ross County this weekend.

Vigo is still a four hour drive from Lisbon, but it’s obviously much closer than Glasgow, and it appears that has been key for the player.
