Tottenham have taken the ‘first steps’ towards signing Porto forward Medhi Taremi as they gear up to lose Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
That’s according to A Bola, who say the Iranian is the ‘main target’ for Daniel Levy and co should Kane end up heading to Bavaria.
The newspaper explains that Tottenham are already planning ahead in case of the eventual departure of Kane and are already ‘evaluating the deal’ for Taremi.
According to their information, they are showing a willingness to pay €24m for the striker and do a deal quickly.
They don’t particularly want to sell their star striker to anyone and even if Tottenham do come calling, they will not let him depart until the Portuguese Super Cup. Manager Sérgio Conceição does not intend to listen to any noise regarding the striker in the build up to that game – crucially against Benfica – either.
In other words, Porto have no intention of doing any negotiations for Taremi in the next five days as they build up to that game.
They can focus on potential sales after that point, when they will be ‘receptive’ to whatever Tottenham or other suitors are willing to offer for the Iranian.
