Tottenham ‘burst into bidding’ to sign midfielder – Developments indicate transfer ‘close to taking place’

Tottenham Hotspur are keen to buy Barcelona’s Clément Lenglet after he spent the last season on loan with them.

Earlier this month, Barca president Joan Laporta said his side are in talks with Spurs for the 28-year-old’s sale but an agreement hasn’t been found just yet.

Mundo Deportivo now state the centre-back continues to be a target for Tottenham, who have also set their sights on his Camp Nou teammate, Franck Kessié.

Xavi Hernández has decided to leave the duo out of his plans and they were the only first team players to not have any minutes in the friendly win over Real Madrid at the weekend. The report believes this is because their exits are ‘close to taking place’.

Juventus want the 26-year-old midfielder and it’s claimed they have made an offer to take him on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Mundo say the Serie A side will face competition from Tottenham, who have ‘burst into the bidding’ in the last few hours.

The report adds Spurs could take the Ivory Coast international to the Premier League and they could also be the destination for Lenglet.
