Bayern directors Marco Neppe and Jan-Christian Dreesen were ‘definitely not’ in London today to talk to Tottenham over Harry Kane.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says that while concrete negotiations are underway the pair have not flown to meet Daniel Levy as yet.
A report from BILD earlier today indicated the meeting with Levy was still expected to take place as they step up their efforts to sign Kane from Tottenham this summer.
They insisted that the German club were determined to keep things under wraps, with negotiations having been tense over the Tottenham captain.
Plettenberg now reports that claims the pair have travelled are wide of the mark. He, however, says that concrete negotiations continue, and they are in ‘good and regular contact’ with Levy at this stage. He insists that ‘nothing has collapsed’ despite it appearing that way.
Which means one of two things, either BILD were wrong with their report earlier today or those in charge at Bayern are spreading differing information to cause confusion.
What’s interesting is that the BILD report earlier today did state that Bayern’s chiefs wanted maximum discretion regarding Kane after fans discovered their flight plans on the internet.
Perhaps, then, this is their latest attempt to do that. Either way, the latest from Germany is that the reported meeting today between Bayern and Tottenham isn’t actually taking place.
