Benfica and Wolverhampton Wanderers finally have a new deal for Gonçalo Guedes.
According to Portuguese newspaper Record, the clubs ‘finalised the agreement’ to keep the player loaned to the Lisbon side for one more season.
The outlet claims that the official announcement by Benfica and Wolves ‘will take place in the coming days’.
Guedes had a knee operation in the final months of the last season, and despite not being able to play feature in their last games in the league, the Eagles always showed their desire to keep him.
That’s why, during the summer, the forward was reported to be training at Benfica’s facilities, with the local media claiming the agreement with Wolves for a new loan was just a matter of time.
Guedes now then stays at Benfica until the summer of 2023, and still has a contract with Wolves running until 2027.
His new season in Portugal will tell how good the recovery from his recent knee issues was, and that will certainly dictate whether Wolves can still manage to make a good sale with him in the future.
