West Ham United may need to move quickly to sign defender Luiz Felipe from Real Betis, with Monaco now showing strong interest in him.
That’s according to El Desmarque, who say the Hammers have not made their bid for the Brazilian despite having ‘promised’ to do so.
They explain that Luiz Felipe’s future remains ‘very uncertain’ after the Hammers promised to make a bid for him via their representatives.
The defender gave his approval to the possibility of the switch, with the offer of a ‘difficult contract to reject’ also on the table. That verbal commitment has not translated into a written offer, though.
Sources close to the negotiations assure that their interest is firm, and they have the economic muscle to match the previous offer from West Ham. The first conversations have already taken place over a move and there may be movements in the coming days.
Thus, West Ham need to move quickly if they wish to get their man. Betis and their agents have been ‘pressing for weeks’ for the Hammers to make a formal offer in writing.
If they had done so, or if they do so in the near future, there would be no apparent ‘impediments’ to closing the sale. At the moment, though, everything appears to be on standby.
That could see them miss out to Monaco, with Betis now ‘expectant’ of an offer arriving from the Ligue 1 side and willing to listen to what they can offer.
