Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez.

The news comes from the player’s home country, where Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reveals this pursuit.

The reporter claims that negotiations between Wolves and Betis are ‘underway’, even though they’re ‘nothing close’ to getting done.

The story doesn’t say how much the Molineux side would like to put on the table for the transfer, or even how much the La Liga club are requesting.

What could play on Wolves’ side is that Rodriguez’s contract with Betis expires next year, and that could force them to sell him now instead of risking losing him for free. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €28m, which is actually his peak valuation there.

Since joining the Spanish club in 2020, the midfielder has been linked to several Premier League clubs, with the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool all said to be interested in him this summer.

Wolves may still be looking for a replacement for Ruben Neves, and just like Barcelona had Rodriguez as an alternative to the Portuguese star, it seems Julen Lopetegui’s side may thing the same.
