Inter Milan goalkeeper André Onana will travel to Manchester on Sunday or Monday to conclude his move to Manchester United after being ‘reassured’ by manager Erik ten Hag.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who, alongside Corriere dello Sport, insist there is nothing stopping the long running transfer from being completed.
Gazzetta kick things off by stating that Ten Hag has phoned Onana, who he worked alongside at Ajax, to assure him that he will be a Red Devil ‘in record time’.
Currently the two sides are split by a difference of €2-3m in terms of figures but that won’t break the deal and it is ‘practically concluded’ at this point.
At some point between Sunday and Monday Manchester United will go as far as the €52m requested by Inter and the goalkeeper will be signed. The Nerazzurri management held firm on that yesterday, waiting for United to try again and get things over the line.
Corriere, meanwhile, state that Onana ‘got very close to United’ yesterday, with them edging nearer to the €55m requested by Inter.
According to them it is currently the ‘hottest 48 hours’ of the negotiations between the two clubs, with most believing that Monday will be the key day but not ruling out it potentially being formalised today.
Either way, the deal is edging ever closer, and Ten Hag looks set to get his replacement for David de Gea through the door.
