With the Kim Min-jae transfer from Napoli to Bayern Munich yet to be announced, the Serie A side have yet to make another official move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Max Kilman, as recalled by Corriere dello Sport.
The English defender has been targeted by the Italians as the ideal replacement for the South Korea international, but a first bid of €35m was rejected by Wolves.
Napoli were told they will need at least €40m to get a deal over the line, which they are yet to match, even if it does seem like a small amount to bridge.
That being said, everyone knows how tough of a negotiator Aurelio De Laurentiis can be, and the penny pinching has served him well in the past.
This is why Corriere state the ‘negotiation continues’, and will do to the ‘bitter end’, which will include the ‘classic pauses of strategy’ involving moves such as some defence from Wolves and counter-attacks on the Italian side.
There is still a lot of time left in the transfer window, but there is also a feeling that Napoli will want this sorted sooner rather than later to give Rudi Garcia all the tools he needs to follow in the footsteps of Luciano Spalletti.
