Giovani Lo Celso has returned to Tottenham Hotspur after an impressive loan spell at Villarreal last season.
On Wednesday, La Vanguardia stated Barcelona have identified the midfielder as a potential signing. Later that day, Estadio Deportivo reported Real Betis have contacted Spurs and will make a loan offer to sign him in the coming weeks.
Sport now claim Manuel Pellegrini’s side have made a ‘formal request’ to Tottenham to sign the 27-year-old in the summer window.
Lo Celso knows the Spanish league well and the possibility of taking him on loan would ‘suit Barca like a glove’. As it stands, a decision hasn’t been made on his future.
New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou hasn’t been able to look at the player so far. It’s claimed he’ll undergo pre-season with Spurs because the Australian wants to take a closer look at him, just like other players who were out on loan last season.
Sport say ‘anything can happen’ as ‘everything is open’ with regards to the South American’s future. For now, the case is ‘paralysed at the expense’ of what Tottenham and Lo Celso will decide and also the offers he would receive in this window.
