Arsenal and Newcastle United are among the clubs in the picture to sign Montpellier star Elye Wahi.
The striker impressed for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring 19 goals and registering six assists from 33 games and attracting interest from other clubs in the process.
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal and Newcastle are both ‘on the lookout’ for the 20-year-old.
Earlier on Monday, L’Equipe reported Chelsea have positioned themselves to sign the France U21 international, along with Eintracht Frankfurt.
After relaying this, Foot Mercato say Wahi could be loaned out to RC Strasbourg, if the Blues were to buy him. Chelsea have to be cautious about the two other Premier League sides as the report adds the Gunners and Eddie Howe’s side ‘remain in the race’ to sign him.
It’s suggested Newcastle have their eyes set on him since they are always on the lookout for a young talent. Mikel Arteta’s side could sell Folarin Balogun this summer, which is why they are keeping tabs on the Montpellier frontman.
Wahi has a deal until 2025 and Foot Mercato say he’s valued at €30m by the French club. They claim a decision on his future should be made in the ‘next few days’.
