Manchester United’s chase for Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund may be far from dead.
Even though it’s been a while since the Italian media last brought strong updates on this pursuit, La Repubblica today features some interesting information about an attempt from Erik ten Hag’s side.
Their report says there’s an ‘incoming bid’ from Manchester United for the 20-year-old.
The Red Devils are said to be ‘ready to offer’ €45m for Højlund’s signing, but that may not be enough to convince Atalanta yet.
The Serie A side reportedly start from a €60m valuation, and are ‘not willing to give discounts’.
There’s a good reason why Atalanta don’t feel forced to negotiate with Manchester United, and the report that’s because Juventus are also set to fight for Højlund.
The Old Lady are said to have the striker ‘at the top’ of their list, and could go after him to replace Dusan Vlahovic, who’s heavily linked to a departure this summer.
La Repubblica say makes Atalanta more confident they can sell their star for the price they want, however, it’s very unlikely Juventus would pay more than Manchester United.
It’s interesting that in Italy a €60m asking price from Atalanta is seen as being at the high end of the scale, whereas some claims in England have said the Series A side want much more.
Perhaps a deal worth around €50m is there for Manchester United to agree.
